"Dusk. The Old Quarter of a city where river meets sea.
A man in a dark gray overcoat walks the Quarter's streets, a tangle of cobblestone passages that spin from the harbor and thread themselves through neighborhoods where the smells of cooking spices vary but the sad decrepitude is shared. . . . The man suspects this is a city in which even life-long residents find themselves lost. He does not know whether he is such a person, though. He does not know whether he has ever been here before. He does not know why he is here now."
It's all very mysterious.
