"At some point, members of the audience started jumping up on stage and jamming on songs. For a while, the set list went out the window. Otis Redding was first, joining Jimmy and the band on a blistering version of Respect. That opened the floodgates. Danny Rapper jumped up and reminded everyone that Rock 'n Roll is Here to Stay. For a while, John "Gonzo" Bonham took over the drum set for Dennis Wilson, who joined the back-row vocalists and chipped in harmonies. Freddie Mercury, looking young and strong, strutted across the stage and tore into Good Golly Miss Molly. Jackie Wilson, Johnny Burnett, and Del Shannon followed.
Jimmy slowed things down for a few minutes and asked Karen Carpenter to come up and sing Goodbye To Love, explaining that he'd always loved the guitar solo in the middle. Karen Carpenter, Dennis Wilson, Roy Orbison and Sam Cooke harmonizing while Jimmy and Buddy traded guitar licks was too good to have ever been heard on earth, but it was perfection in Rock 'n Roll Heaven."
